Prince Harry is believed to have forked out thousands of dollars on a painting for an “important person” — and everyone is pretty sure that special someone is girlfriend Meghan Markle.
PEOPLE confirmed the 32-year-old prince bought the original piece of artwork last October, days before his relationship with the Hollywood starlet went public.
The sweet gift is sure to have earned the prince a few brownie points — a hand canvas showing a boy and girl walking hand-in-hand with the words “Everybody Needs Somebody To Love” spray-painted in blue.
While it has not been confirmed the painting was for Markle, the prince reportedly asked whether the artwork could be “split in half” to be shared between two people.
Sounds like the perfect gift for long distance romance…
A local art collector told PEOPLE Harry was often seen visiting the shops with his bodyguard and this particular day had been looking for a while before settling on a piece by up and coming British artist Van Donna.
“He said he was looking for something for ‘an important person.’ It was literally just before anyone heard about Meghan — literally just days before it was announced he was going out with her,” the collector said.
